Big House Box Wine!

I love wine... I love my friends... so naturally, I love drinking wine with my friends. For non-special occasions, buying nice wine can add up quickly while serving box wine seems quite cheasy. Well, I was walking through Mac*adoodles (liquor & wine store) and I found the cutest solution!
Cute octagon box!
Big House Wine has come out with a cute and very affordable boxed wine. The box contains 3L (4 bottles) for about $18 (price will vary depending on where you are buying). If you aren't familiar with Big House Wine, they are a California vineyard. If you'd like to check out their website, it is located here: http://www.bighousewine.com/Main.html

There was only one vareity available the "Big House Red", a not too dry and not too sweet very drinkable red wine. At 13.5% alcohol, it is sure to be add some kick to gettogethers.

*BONUS* The octagan shaped box is refreshingly cute and there's an easy to carry handle on top. The only thing I'm not too excited about it the pour stout. It's a twist open spout that is a little tricky to open, but on the plus side, it doesn't drip when shut.

Purple Day Eyes

Idea: Purple Eyes... for day!

The Products: Used things I currently had... merely collected different purple shades to see what worked best. I ended up with a purple max factor eye shadow, Wet N Wild Idol Eyes Creme Shawdow in Techno (info http://wnwbeauty.com/Product.php?Pid=81), and LA Splash glitter liquid eyeliner in Purple Hea (got from Ulta).

The Application: First I used eye shadow primer over my lid to make sure the color came out true and would last. Then I used a sponge eyeshadow applicator to apply the purple eyeshadow to my lid. I started at the outside of my eye so i could create a good line on outer edge of the eye. I worked the shadow in towards the center of the lid. I also worked to blend and smear the eyeshadow upwards to there wasn't a harsh end line and the shadow went above the crease.

Next I used the Idol Eyes Creme Shadow stick to line my lower lash line and the inside part of my eye. I went slightly on my top lid, but only the inside portion. Then I used the glitter liquid eyeliner on the outer third of both my upper and bottom eyelash line. I thought this was just the right amount of sparkle without turning this into a night time look. I finished off with some highlighter on my browline and some mascara.

The Results: A fun and playful day look. Not appropriate for work, but definetely for Saturday shopping.. or ice skating which is how I spent the day!

Wet 'n Wild Ultimate Minerals Bronzer

So I've never really used blush before... but I wanted to try something to highlight my cheekbones. I decided to use a bronzer to add depth.

The Product: I used Wet 'n Wild's Ultimate Minerals Bronzer (here are the product details: http://wnwbeauty.com/Product.php?Pid=38) to create a C shape from my temples through the indent of my jawbone. I then used a bit of highlighter to buff a line almost filling in the center of the "C" shape. The results are what you see to the left.

How To Apply: To apply the bronzer as blush, I tapped a bit of the product into the cap and then used a blush brush to pick up some of the product. Make sure to evenly distribute the product by swirling it in the cap. If you picked up too much product, just tap the brush on a napkin to knock some off.

*TIP* If you apply too much bronzer in one spot or the line is too harsh, use a clean finger to smudge/smear the line so the effect you are creating is more natural looking.

Wet 'n Wild Clinical Serum

The Product: I purchased Wet'nWild's new Clinical Serum bonus pack (which also included the Clinical Mascara). Here is a link to the official description + promotion: WetNWild Clinical Serum

The Promise: The Serum promises to actually boost lash length and thickness. The idea is, it works like conditioner for your hair... but only with your lashes. Vitamins + oils = less breakage meaning your lashes can grow longer and will be thicker. I purchased it and begin using on Feb 7, 2011. I took a before picture which is posted below.

My eyelashes (with mascara) on first day of serum usage.
*Please note* I am wearing the mascara in the photo. Mascara of course lengthens + darkens your lashes.

The Results: I will take another photo at the two week mark (Feb 21) and then at the one month mark (March 7) to see the progress. For consistency, I will wear mascara and get the same angle in the comparison photos. Hopefully we will have good results!

Application Tip: Also, one other thing I'd like to mention... some people who have reviewed this product complains as it stings the eyes... I've found that yes, if you get it in your eyes, it will sting. HOWEVER, your meant to brush it on your lashes.... not put it in your eyes, or use it as eyeliner. If you are getting it in your eyes, you may be using to much so that it is dripping down into your eyes or you are painting the serum on your skin and not your lashes. I've found with proper application to just the lashes, there is no burning.
